Okay. So you’re a child. It’s your birthday. Your parents decide that they are going to take you and nine of your friends out to the zoo for the day.
Now, ten young excitable children are pretty hard to manage, so they decide to split you up into two groups. One group get given…
when i read this, i thought she clarified by explaining each development of the story as the meaning of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th waves of feminism. not specifying the gender issues connected to it. just basic feminism.
and she says something about how the system is an entity of its own and contributes to 50% of all oppression?
I was totes thinking that the ones with the red sticker were white women, and the blue stickers were WoC and cis white men were the parents:
1. white women realize they don’t have rights and start taking them from men
2. they don’t realize that they’re getting all the rights and totally not giving a fuck about WoC who still have no rights
3. realization that WoC are just as (if not more so) oppressed as they were and start helping to get them rights (because the cis white men won’t listen to WoC)
4. WoC gain their own voice and start to together they are now all happy and shit and everyone gets to see lions and penguins while the parents are like, “wait? WTF just happened?”
but then I saw what this fool wrote each thing stood for.
But you’re infallible, so it’s impossible to consider that you yourself might be at stage 2, right? If white cis men invented ‘the system’ one day because they were bored and evil, how do you explain this?
