I’m all in favour of teaching SJers at a young age what ‘proportionally representative’ means.
No, people who seem to make every advertisement or publication, it doesn’t mean ‘the most diverse line-up possible’. In a country where 9/10 people are white, it doesn’t make you racist if you make more than 3/5 of your actors that colour. Minorities need to be represented, but as minorities. We’re not supposed to be choosing people over others based on their race - in fact, that’s the opposite of what we should be doing. The same goes for putting equal quotas of people where there clearly aren’t, such as in this game.
If you want to be representative and diverse, why don’t you show some ugly people for a change?

Actually, white people make-up 72.4% of all Americans, so 9/10 is very inaccurate. Also, comparing the racial makeup to gender makeup in media representation is not a good one, since yes, racial minorities are minorities, but women are not minorities, they are just given less representation.
Plus, for this original picture, no one has said that it’s unrealistic that there aren’t any women in COD, since obviously, men are mainly the ones who go to war. The problem is that almost every war video game, specifically the ones that are sci-fi or not supposed to be “realistic” only feature men, and that’s where the issue of lack of representation of women is a problem.

I make up 0% of Americans, so 9/10 is actually quite accurate. Sorry if I seem like I live in the US. Unless you were being ironic, on the subject of being non-proportionally representative, in assuming that all internet users share your nationality? If so: good one.
If you’ve ever heard the term ‘white cis male’, you’ll know that comparing women to real minorities is a very common thing. I often oppose it, because they have very little in common and are completely independent of one another. I certainly wasn’t trying to compare them here, more making a general point about representation, which has been made relevant to both women and minorities by whoever lumped them together - as needing more representation - in the first place. I definitely don’t support that lumping, so again I apologise if it came across that way. I’m just using the cards that I’ve been given by the SJers themselves.
I’ll back down to your knowledge of video games though, because that’s not my area of expertise. I think it’s reasonable for aliens based on humans to have male fighters, as well as humans distributed across time and space. The people who write the characters can only work with what they know. But yes, I agree that we should definitely see an equal number of alien species which feature female warriors, as human gender roles are something specific to our species. Other animals work differently, and aliens should work more differently still.
